El Palacio Real

El Palacio Real (The Royal Palace) is a beautiful palace in Madrid. Construction began in 1734, and it is an absolutely stunning building. Technically it's the official residence of the royal family, but they don't actually live there. The palace is more so used for royal events, most recently for the abdication (giving up of the throne) by King Juan Carlos V, and the coronation of the new king, Felipe VI, and his wife, Queen Letizia.
